Northumberland County Council is offering information and advice to help residents who may be feeling the pressure of the cost of living crisis. The information covers a wide range of subjects, from household costs and bills through to mental health and wellbeing, and includes details of benefits, discounts and payments for those who are eligible. There is also guidance for anyone who is interested in volunteering to help others. The information is available on the Northumberland County Council website, or you can call Northumberland Communities Together on 01670 620 015 9am-6pm, seven days a week, or send an email.
Parish Council Meeting
The Parish Council will be meeting on Tuesday 27 September 2022 at 6.30 pm in St Cuthbert’s Church, Carham. This meeting was originally due to take place on 13 September 2022.

Her Majesty The Queen
It is with great sadness that Carham Parish Council has learned of the death of our Sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.
Parishioners may like to know that St Cuthbert’s church in Carham will remain open for private prayer and reflection. The nearest books of condolence are at Coldstream Library Contact Centre and Kelso Library Contact Centre, and there are books of condolence in Berwick-upon-Tweed at Berwick Library and at Berwick Leisure Centre. A national book of condolence is available to sign online. Floral tributes can be laid as a mark of respect at the Parade Ground at Wallace Green in Berwick-upon-Tweed.
In accordance with protocol and out of respect for the Royal Family, the Parish Council will not be holding its meeting on Tuesday 13 September. This meeting will be arranged for a later date.

Next Footpaths Group Walk
The next walk organised by the footpaths group will be on Saturday 3 September 2022. This is a farm walk at West Learmouth, an 850 acre mixed farm that has recently converted to organic farming. Former pasture land has been planted with native trees, and former arable land has been planted with wildlife-friendly seed mixes as part of the process of converting it to regenerative pasture. There is parking at the farm (NT 849377) and the walk starts at 1000 hrs. Everyone is welcome!
Flodden Cavalcade 2022
The annual ride-out to Flodden, which is part of Coldstream Civic Week, takes place on Thursday 4 August. This is the longest and the largest of the ride-outs from Coldstream. A Temporary Traffic Regulation Order will be in place from 1015 hrs to 1730 hrs. The route of the cavalcade can be viewed here

Rogation Sunday
Our three local churches – St Cuthbert’s in Carham, St Helen’s in Cornhill on Tweed, and St Paul’s in Branxton – are holding a joint service on Sunday 29 May at West Learmouth Farm. The open-air service, marking Rogation Sunday, will include a blessing of the trees that have been planted by Carham Parish Council as a contribution to The Queen’s Green Canopy – a UK-wide tree-planting initiative created to commemorate the jubilee. The trees have been planted where the public footpath meets the byway at the old West Learmouth railway sidings, courtesy of Mrs Moore of West Learmouth Farm. The Rogation Sunday service is at 11.00 am and everyone is welcome to attend. Please wear stout footwear, as it may be muddy underfoot. For more information, call Pat Feerick on 01890 254 794.
Carham Parish Council
The Annual Parish Council Meeting was held on 10 May. Among other things, the meeting reviewed and agreed the Parish Council’s Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR). The AGAR documents are all available on the Standards page of this website. The AGAR and the accounting records for the financial year, and documents relating to these records, are available for inspection on reasonable notice by application to the Parish Clerk from Monday 13 June 2022 to Friday 22 July 2022.
