Carham Priory

Earlier this year a geophysical survey was carried out in the field at Carham between the church and the river. The focus was the site of the medieval priory which appears in the historical record but is no longer visible above ground. The survey was done by Durham University Archaeological Services and the Bernician Studies Group of Newcastle. A public presentation of the findings will take place at Branxton Village Hall on 28 November from 10.00 to 16.00. The event is free of charge and everyone is welcome, but please book your place so that the organisers know how many people are attending.

Next Footpaths Group Walk

This is another chance to enjoy a guided walk around Mindrum farm with Tom Fairfax who will be talking about regenerative farming and other developments at this mixed organic farm, which the Footpaths Group last visited in 2019. The five-mile walk is on Saturday 2 December 2023 and starts at 10 am. Everyone is welcome, including well-behaved dogs on leads. For more information, see the poster on our Walks page.

We would like to have some idea of numbers, so if you plan to come along please email the walks organiser or send a text to 07557 211 564. We hope to see you there!

Road Works

We have been advised of an amendment to Temporary Traffic Regulation Order: 134177403 B6352 County Boundary to West Flodden Mindrum. The road is expected to be closed for resurfacing works from 21/08/2023 to 24/08/2023 between the hours of 0730 am and 1700 pm. There will be a speed restriction from 60 mph to 40 mph in place on those dates between the hours of 1700 pm and 0800 am. Access will be maintained when practicable to do so. Details of the disruption can be viewed here

Road Works

The B6352 is closed for road works between Thornington and the turning to Kilham Crossing. There is no access to this section of the road. We understand that the road is closed to allow for gully works, signage and drainage works, and that the works may take up to two weeks. We were not informed about these road works so unfortunately we do not have any more information than this.
